ZUMA'S DIAMONDS
PRICE: Negotiable
GENRE: Action/Drama
LOGLINE: The theft of conflict diamonds is a step too far for Zuma. He seeks retribution and the return of the stones to his country.
SYNOPSIS:
We start in Liberia during a fierce coup d'état involving paramilitaries and government forces. From there, we shift to Cote d'Ivoire and meet Daniel, an indigenous digger and diamond thief. He sells the pilfered diamonds to Alphonse, an African dealer who funds the coup using the profits. Yet, it's British politician, Gerald Carter, who acquires the raw gems. Carter faces two dilemmas: he's spotted by a General familiar with his identity and later deceived when he unknowingly buys diamond simulants instead of the authentic uncut stones.
After being left at the border, Daniel returns to his Liberian township. Meanwhile, the General informs Zuma, the interior minister, about the British politician's sighting. Carter revisits the Ivory Coast only to witness the assassination of diamond thief Alphonse Craven by the General and his troops. Carter intervenes, leading to a pursuit with the African thief responsible for duping him. The hitch for the thief, however, is a promise he made to an American jeweler, Alex Raynor, offering him the diamonds. Alex is later invited to Zuma's soirée, where he becomes enamored with Zuma's daughter, Monique. Their blossoming romance takes a turn when Zuma discovers Alex's ties to the thief, resulting in perilous demands. Despite the risks, Alex continues his liaison with Monique. He's eventually warned to leave Cote d'Ivoire permanently or face dire repercussions. He returns to New York, reunites with Monique, drawing the ire of her father. In the end, Monique becomes the unintended victim of her father's fury.
However, with Zuma fervently seeking his diamonds' return and justice for the perpetrators...
