SYNOPSIS:
Act 1
In Liverpool outside of the infamous Sheil Road, a woman is murdered at a train station. Elsewhere in Manchester, a retired Detective mastermind, dandy gentleman William Shaw is forced to celebrate his anniversary of his first criminal catch from decades prior. Shaw excuses himself and after hearing his first criminal he ever caught has passed away starts feeling the passage of time. Needing air he leaves to go home, lost in his thoughts he heads the wrong way on the train and finds himself in Liverpool. Lost he accidentally stumbles onto the crime scene of the woman. After hearing the wrong theory to the crime, Shaw enters the crime and explains his theory which fits the scene better. The police go to toss Shaw out for containing the scene but one of Shaw’s old partners is now the Chief Inspector, C.I Black. Black reveals to his old friend and mentor they are stumped, and Shaw agrees to help excited at working a case again.
Working with the police Shaw finds out there is a serial killer called The Liver Ripper who the media has dubbed the Son of the Ripper. Inspecting the murders being mainly towards woman and their location deduces the killer knows them well and is medically skilled. Heading to Sheli Road, Shaw with Black discover there is an unusual large amount of drama involving the suspects including a woman called Francine and some boy from her youth called Francis, from the PCSOs stationed there one being Kyle Baker a disgraced police officer trying to redeem himself.
After interviewing the suspects from business men to Priests starting again, Shaw learns from the Priest in passing he has taken over from the previous local Doctor Baker the working women went to since the late Doctor’s death. Shaw visits Francine, a trans woman previously called Francis and realises there is a mystery man behind the scenes of Sheli Road.
Act 2
Shaw returns to the precinct with three suspects, the trouble making priest, Father Chapman, violent business owner Jax Holmes and the vengeful ostracised Francine. Shaw seeing the similarities in the case researches Jack The Ripper and finds the victims had the same name and methods of death.
Needing more information. Shaw heads to the information broker in the area, Catherine Grey. Shaw finds out from Catherine that the deaths started not long after she got the women to moan about Kyle Baker to keep him in the area because Mary Barret another woman fancied him and that Chapman was paying for Martha, Jax was dating Elizabeth and other college students who were planning to go in medicine and lastly that Francine is dealing with drugs and was heavily into the trade until the women ousted her.Shaw returns to Black with the information. Black decides to send the inspectors to collect Chapman, Jax Holmes. Shaw states they should bring Catherine in since she knows so much but they are notified about another body. Arriving at the scene in the park they find Catherine’s exposed body that has had its face smashed in and butchered. Shaw finds out from Doctor Wilson that the body was alive when the face was destroyed and didn’t die for another twenty minutes when her organs were stolen.
Act 3
Shaw remarks about the personal motivation regarding the deaths and dismisses Jax Holmes as suspect. Black orders his inspectors to go and speak with Chapman again and to bring him down for questioning. Shaw goes over the police report and realizes that the only people who got a copy of it were the Inspectors and the local PSCOs covering Sehil Road.
Shaw starts linking the personal notices and realize they correspond with events. Mary sleeping with someone for protection only to be killed, the second victim was killed to be silenced. Annie was neutered with her womb cut out to hide birth. Elizabeth was killed with an ironic nature for a heart on her sleeve she had her chest hacked open to expose her heart, Catherine a two-face woman who abused her trust was targeted in the face. Realizing Mary Barret is in danger. Shaw goes and contacts her, but she goes to allow someone to enter. Shaw contacts Black and the duo rush to the house while others do too.
Black parks the car outside but Shaw rushes in but it’s too late as Mary has been killed and strung up like a puppet in her own home. The Liver Ripper although masked is present and goes to kill Shaw but Shaw is saved only by the unknown fact his cane head is actually a short sword which he uses to wound the killer who knocks Shaw over and flees out a window and avoiding the police in the front. Black is able to check on Shaw and discovers Shaw is fine.
Shaw notices a woman and is able to get her to reveal what she saw and reveals that PSCO Kyle Baker was hanging around the area. Black notes he should be at his post and grumbles he has probably gone for lunch. But Alice reveals she saw him with Francine in the car and Black assumes he has caught Francine doing something illegal. Shaw asks Alice to come down to the station to just sign her account.In the station Kyle enters the station and apologises that he turned his radio off to deal with Francine and forgot he turned it off. Black tells him that they just wanted his help since a witness saw him in the area. Baker goes to the interrogation room with the lights off, drawing his knife he turns the light on. Baker is surprised to see Shaw waiting for him. Shaw explains he deduced what happened but asks if Francine is alive and Baker shakes his head. Shaw opens the file and shows its Kyle’s record and states he would have the medical skills being the son of Doctor Baker who Father Chapman has replaced before explaining the reason behind the killings. With Baker being denied promotion and transfer out due to the women complaining about his efforts and candour. His anger and frustration lead to him having sex with the first victim whom he killed after she blackmailed him into serving as a bouncer to keep his career. Kyle was content with leaving the matter alone until the second victim, Mary aware of Martha’s appointment with Kyle started gossiping resulting in Kyle taking his anger out on her and using the service of the third victim, whom he had accidently impregnated when she refused to terminate it he killed her, neutered her, and stole the child and womb. Matters worsened when Kyle’s frustrations resulted him becoming convinced of purifying sin from himself and others. Killing Elizabeth because she spoke her mind on her thoughts and was a heart on her sleeve type of woman. Struggling heavily mentally Catherine another woman was supporting him but only for assistance in getting drugs. Being two faced Kyle attacked her destroying her face and selling the organs on the black market to raise money to leave. Having discovered that victim Mary was the mastermind in keeping Kyle stuck there so she could seduce him Kyle killed her and displayed the would-be puppet master as the puppet. Having imploded mentally Kyle slept with Francine ‘Francis’ who he thought was a woman only to discover she was trans and killed her as a result. When finding out Alice Butler claims to have seen him in the area, Kyle was going to kill her to shut her up and no one would really question him for moving a suspect since he is working the case at the bottom.
Black and his men enter to congratulate Shaw and arrest Baker. Shaw returns to his humdrum life of retirement but before he can, he receives a call from a Julian Tilley stating he was told by a friend called Ross Black, that he is a private investigator and requests his services solving a case. Teasing at more adventures and mysteries.
