LOGLINE: Oslo 1984. In a small medical facility, several patients being treated for sleep insomnia soon get picked one off at time by an unseen entity.

GENRE: Horror

SYNOPSIS:

Act 1 - We are introduced to a group of patients struggling with insomnia, which has led them to reside in a facility. They collectively decide to participate in an experimental treatment. While awaiting the setup of their experiment, they watch a film showcasing three doctors conducting their own research in a mysterious realm known as the Nocturnal realm. In the film, one of the doctors manages to escape, while the other two meet their demise. Among the patients, one of them engages in an illicit affair with a nurse who happens to be married to the head of the medical wing. As the group prepares to sleep, tensions rise.

Upon awakening, they discover themselves alone. Two friends from the group, Isaac and Otto, venture out in search of other people. Meanwhile, Elisabeth and Tasha, two other women, express their love and fear for one another. The group encounters hostile patients in the asylum wing and retreats to their room. However, they make a grim discovery—the patient involved in the affair, Tasha, has been killed alongside the nurse.

Act 2 - While the blame for the deaths falls on the nurse's husband, the experiment is halted. The group begins to realize that they are trapped, unable to escape the Nocturnal realm if they fall asleep again. Despite this, they must press on. They enter the realm once more, only to be assaulted by zombie-like creatures and witness enigmatic blue and yellow lights, as well as ghostly apparitions. Tragically, Isaac loses his life, but Otto manages to bring their doctor, Doctor Oppegard, into the realm.

Act 3 - The survivors unite and combat the zombie-like creatures until they encounter the guardian of the realm, The Sleep Walker, who kills Otto. The remaining women and Doctor Oppegard flee, regrouping later. They discover that Elisabeth has been taken captive by the creatures in their lair. With a daring rescue, they manage to save her.

In a final act of sacrifice, the Doctor stays behind to hold off the creature, allowing the women to escape. Elisabeth and Tasha, having undergone this harrowing experience, find that their insomnia has been cured within the realm. Unable to return to the Nocturnal realm, they are liberated to embrace their new lease on life.
