PRICE: Negotiable
LOGLINE: A disgraced arachnologist finds a shard of the missing Florentine Diamond. Tracing the diamond back, he finds himself in a race to recover it.
SYNOPSIS:
ACT 1:
In Stirling, Scotland, we meet the disgraced archaeologist Daniel Omar, who is about to be kicked out of his teaching position. In front of university guests and his old friend turned Chancellor, Conor Shaw, Omar discovers that his recent payment from a job - a diamond shard - is in fact a match for the Florentine Diamond. Omar's rivals, Elizabeth Swanson and Paul Houghton, attempt to take the diamond for themselves, but Shaw helps his old friend by allowing him to leave with it.
Omar travels to New York to find out from his previous employer where the diamond was obtained, while dealing with Houghton's and Elizabeth's attempts to slow him down. Omar learns that the diamond came from a man named Jay Edwards in Florida. Heading there, Omar once again thwarts Elizabeth's attempts and recovers Jay Edwards' journal, although he is attacked by a mysterious German henchman. Reading the journal, he discovers that in 1919, Jay Edwards was attacked by a similar henchman from a council and escaped to Argentina to find the man who gave him the diamond, named Florencio Fernandez. Omar becomes paranoid due to all the violence.
ACT 2:
En route by plane, Omar meets a man who introduces himself as Fredrick Brück, representing the mysterious attackers known as Black Sun. Omar is given a choice to leave the diamond alone, but determined to clear his reputation, he proceeds. In Buenos Aires, Omar avoids more assassins at every turn and narrowly survives an attempt on his life in his hotel room. He realizes there are two factions: Black Sun and another known simply as 'The Council'. Omar meets Fernandez's descendant after discovering that both Florencio Fernandez and Jay Edwards have passed away, the latter murdered by one of the factions. After learning where Fernandez left his belongings, Omar heads to collect them.
In the warehouse, Elizabeth catches up with Omar, but the two factions fight to kill them both, resulting in Omar and Elizabeth calling a truce as they flee in a motorcycle chase through the city. Despite several close calls, they escape. Omar ditches Elizabeth, but she catches up to him at his hotel. The two have dinner and resolve their previously unmentioned romantic issues. Elizabeth reveals Paul Houghton was murdered, and Omar narrowly avoids being poisoned. Omar and Elizabeth rekindle their love. The next day, Omar wakes to find Elizabeth gone and her love a setup. Omar escapes the two factions but is caught by Black Sun and Brück at the airport, preventing Elizabeth from escaping.
On Brück's plane, Omar discovers that Black Sun are historic treasure hunters with connections to World War I and II. Elizabeth is given a choice by Brück to leave, but her hostility results in her being killed. Omar is taken into Black Sun custody to be kept alive due to his cordial relationship with Brück.
ACT 3:
Arriving in Switzerland, Omar escapes and flees to an archive belonging to the Council, where he coincidentally meets his old friend, Elizabeth’s younger brother, James Swanson. Omar and James team up, finding that the next clue is in Muri Abbey. Omar ensures James's safety before being recaptured and forced to work with Brück. Omar recovers the diamond, and Brück takes him to Vienna to meet with the Council of Vienna, a faction working to restore Zita of Bourbon-Parma's descendants to power in Europe, using hidden gold with the diamond acting as the key. At the Imperial Crypt in Vienna, they meet their leader, Countess Ransmayr, Zita's descendant, who is hostile to both Omar and Black Sun. Omar incites Black Sun to turn against the council. Ransmayr, realizing she must destroy the diamond to proceed, does so, unlocking a door. In a subsequent fight, Ransmayr is injured and activates a booby trap, killing herself. Omar saves Brück and leaves with the diamond shards.
A day later, Omar, attempting to leave Vienna, is approached by Brück, who offers him a share of the treasure as thanks for saving his life. Omar agrees to keep everything hidden and keeps the shards of the Florentine Diamond to clear his reputation. Omar and James meet up to discuss finding more lost treasures.
