LOGLINE: The will of his late father sends Alex careening down a mission of justice to avenge his mother's death. But Alex doesn’t realize that his father’s account of previous events isn't exactly accurate and that he might just be turning into the monster he’s chasing.

SYNOPSIS:

Alex's mother, Aderyn Morgan, committed suicide when Alex was just a kid, and he never knew the exact reason for her death. After more than twenty years, Alex is coming back to his hometown, after his father, Archie Morgan, passed away, leaving him his property and a recorded message that will once and for all reveal the secrets that destroyed their family.

In the message, it was explained that Aderyn was harassed by a mysterious older man, Emerson Murray, who was in love with her. She was followed, she received messages and threats. Archie didn’t believe her, and his wife never got the protection she needed. After suffering for months, living depressed and scared for her life, she decided to end it, leaving her husband in eternal regret for not believing her. Archie now has one wish, one request for his son: to find the man who caused his family tragedy.

Alex has always been a disappointment to his brilliant dad. Archie was a painter, an amazing father, a respected and wise man. Alex is an alcoholic, a failed writer, who can barely support his family. His whole life, Alex has been searching for his father's approval, and now he is ready to do everything to make him proud, even if that means blood on his hands.

On his trip, Alex meets a woman, Betty, who will become his guide to the strange city, but he doesn’t realize the connection with her is way deeper than a potential friendship. Alex spends his days checking different addresses, and nights drinking. This journey soon turns out to be a nightmare, filled with Alex's unclear memories of his dead mother, and a constant feeling of pressure for not being good enough. The plan goes off track as Alex starts to slowly lose himself.

When he reaches out to the final house, he is caught by surprise, realizing that the last house belongs to Betty and her father. Now he is facing the challenge of not only killing his mother's stalker, but the father of the woman with whom Alex truly felt a connection. After Betty lets him into her home, Alex is about to experience another shock, when Betty introduces her father not as Emerson Murray, but as Archie Morgan. Once again, Alex is thrown into ignorance about his own life.

It turns out Alex's father was never a hero. He was a mental patient who fell for a married woman, his psychiatrist, Aderyn, Betty's mother. Emerson created a delusion in his head, making himself believe that he was her husband, Archie Morgan, and she was his wife. He stole her husband's identity, kidnapped her, raped her, and five years later, she gave birth to Alex. In one of the arguments, Aderyn confronted her patient, telling him that he lived in imagination. This made Emerson mad, and he strangled her in a bathtub. To save himself from the knowledge that he committed a murder, he created a fake reality, completely losing connection with the outside world.

Alex's whole life of lies breaks in a second, and his brain cannot handle it anymore. At that moment, he completely loses his mind. He grabs Betty by her neck and starts strangling her. To protect his daughter, Betty's father stabs Alex with a knife.

In the end, Alex dies. He refuses to believe the truth, he ignores his mistakes, and his mission fails, but his biggest wish comes true: he becomes like his dad.
