MIDDLE MAN MICK

PRICE: Negotiable

GENRE: Sci-fi/Comedy

LOGLINE: When a disillusioned middleman is coerced by power-hungry aliens to negotiate the surrender of Planet Earth, he has a tough time getting anybody to take him seriously.

SYNOPSIS:

We begin with a view of Spacecraft, an ALIEN spacecraft, situated somewhere in outer space. Inside the vessel, one alien interrupts another alien who is engrossed in his favorite Tetris-like game, instructing him to choose a planet for an attack (Subtitles are required). Their roulette wheel lands on EARTH. They are intrigued by its appearance and set their course. The impending arrival is imminent.

Meanwhile, down on Earth, Mick Macmillan is experiencing a terrible day, almost fitting the description of a clichéd bad day. Caught in a traffic jam, he's running late for a crucial meeting, facing a nightmare commute to work. He nearly gets into a conflict with a road worker, receives a parking ticket, endures a dreadful meeting with an insufferable client, and then gets terminated from his job.

To be fair, Mick's role was that of an intermediary, a job he utterly despises. There are numerous aspects of life that Mick wholeheartedly detests.

Later that same day, following advice from his scatterbrained ex, Alice (whom he still deeply admires), Mick creates a dating profile under the name Middle Man Mick. He soon receives a message from a user, an unusual user interested in Mick's username. Unbeknownst to Mick, this user is actually one of the aliens seeking a negotiator—for EARTH'S SURRENDER. Without revealing too much, in a peculiar conversation, the user hints at an in-person meeting with Mick, whom Mick dismisses as an eccentric.

Later that night, Mick drifts off to sleep but awakens in an extraterrestrial chamber, surrounded by several GREY ALIENS. He promptly dismisses it as a dream, until the aliens introduce themselves as Trandaccians from distant galaxies. Speaking with a comical South Park-esque English accent, they explain their intention to expropriate Earth and request Mick to serve as their intermediary for negotiating the planet's surrender. Mick views it as an absurd dream and nonchalantly agrees. A BIG MISTAKE.

What ensues is a narrative of a man ensnared in a catastrophic scenario where no one on Earth takes his predicament earnestly, while the aliens persistently pester him for updates on Earth's surrender. Mick is also subjected to the Trandaccians' blunt, often impolite communication style, coupled with their ceaseless nonsensical queries about our planet's nature. Mick responds in his characteristic satirical manner, and these exchanges arguably lie at the core of the story.

Mick ultimately heeds Alice's most valuable advice (although she doesn't genuinely believe him), leading to a plan involving the abduction of the state governor, in the hopes of bringing the aliens and a government representative together. Unfortunately, this escapade only further complicates matters, as the looming threat of Earth's extinction hangs in the balance.

Ultimately, Mick devises a solution, successfully enlists the support of some world leaders, manages to pacify the aliens, and even brings about a transformation within them. He somehow contributes to making Earth a better place and rebuilds his relationship with Alice. Oh, and he amasses a substantial amount of wealth in the process.
