MAKING LOVE IN A CANOE
PRICE: Negotiable
SYNOPSIS:
Three lifelong friends engage in playful banter as they set up camp in a remote bush. It's a familiar location they've been visiting for years, where PhD candidate Matt, who is mildly autistic, feels comfortable. As they reminisce about their college days, they come to the realization that their lives have stagnated. Will, lacking direction, has given up and now washes cars for his dad. Ambitious Jordan constantly checks his phone for updates on the sketchy dating app he developed. Meanwhile, Matt continues to hide in academia, forever remaining a professional student.
Unexpectedly, they lose cell reception, and this brings Ashley, a struggling Doctorate candidate working on her thesis about social media addiction (an addiction she admits she has), and Candi, an intelligent Sugar Baby, to their campsite. Candi quickly pairs off with Will. Jordan and Ashley, initially despising each other due to Ashley's negative experience with Jordan's dating app and Jordan's tendency to mansplain, find themselves together. The men deceive the women by claiming there are bears nearby to ensure they stay.
In the deep woods, Jordan and Ashley become lost, and Jordan sustains an ankle injury.
Reluctantly, he accepts Ashley's help to find their way back. Meanwhile, Will assists Candi in leaving the Sugar Baby business, and resourceful Matt constructs a crude amplifier for his phone, improving the reception near the lake.If they manage to escape the woods alive, Jordan agrees to revamp the dating app to make it more female-friendly, and Ashley commits to a social media cleanse by deleting three apps from her phone.
Matt builds a fire and uses smoke signals to guide the lost duo back to camp. He shows the social media-addicted Ashley his amplifier, which she excitedly snatches before rushing to the lake for reception. In an unexpected turn of events, she falls in, providing the ultimate social media cleanse and simultaneously inspiring her long-overdue thesis.
The two couples reconcile and make plans for their future as they lovingly head towards their vehicles. Matt spots a bear but decides not to mention it.
