SYNOPSIS:
"Black Balled" is about a young man named Jaime who was sent away from his family by his mother to escape the gang life his late father was involved in. Her death brings him back home to resolve unfinished business and seek revenge for his mother's death. The story is set in L.A. in the early 90s, shortly before the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Jaime returns home to find his father's gang in ruins, while his brother JB struggles with grief and control of the gang. They try to avoid getting involved in the drug trade that other gangs are benefiting from as it spreads across their neighborhood. Jaime must navigate his brother's anger and his ex-girlfriend Shonda's rage while working to restore his father's gang's prominence and protect the neighborhood while it still exists.
Initially, Jaime struggles with reentering the gang life, not wanting to disappoint his mother who sent him away to escape it. However, he quickly finds himself back in the thick of things when corrupt cops from LA's CRASH unit blackmail him into doing their dirty work. Left with few choices, he decides to work for them, aiming to revive his father's gang and seek revenge for his mother's death. Jaime experiences early successes as he manipulates the cops and starts eliminating drugs from his streets. However, he encounters resistance in the form of John St. John, the biggest pimp and narcotics supplier in LA. Along the way, Jaime forms alliances with a rival gang leader and an internal affairs cop who wants to dismantle the CRASH unit.
As Jaime faces trials, he suffers the loss of his brother and has to carry on without him. Additionally, he uncovers a chilling secret about his only remaining family member, Uncle Charlie. Amidst these new traumas, Jaime devises a plan with the help of his allies to break free from the clutches of the CRASH unit and ensure his mother's murderer is brought to justice once and for all.
